Hartford Public Schools prepares their students to compete in a global economy, supporting a diversity of culture. Our curriculum is aligned to the Michigan Department of Education's mandated Grade Level Content Expectations (G.L.C.E.) and High School Content Expectations (H.S.C.E.).
 
The development and revision of Hartford Public Schools programs and curriculum are scheduled according to a "program development cycle" which reflects the priorities established by staff, parents, and the Hartford Public Schools School Board.
 
School Improvement Plans developed at the building and district level are the essential element of student achievement at Hartford Public Schools. The building and district School Improvement Teams work collaboratively on data to create academic goals and strategies to meet building School Improvement goals. Data from district and state level assessments are used to guide instructional decisions and to develop goals. Data is used to develop professional development plans focused on student achievement to meet our goals.
 
Our schools place emphasis on the following areas: 
  • Curriculum:
    What do we want our students to know?
  • Instruction:
    How do we teach our students?
  • Assessment:
    How do we know our students are learning?
The Hartford Public Schools Curriculum is based upon standards that promote “Rigor, Relevance, and Quality”. These standards set high expectations and are based upon the belief that all students will succeed. Some students will need additional time and support, but all students will learn and experience success. Students will learn content that will be relevant to their future plans, whether it be post-secondary education or the work force.
 
Our administration and staff are committed to continuous improvement in all areas. Working together, we can ensure a quality educational experience for all students. We believe in our ability to create a better future for all our schools and students.
