Hartford Middle School
Grades 6-8

Message from the Principal:

Welcome to Hartford Middle School, where we believe there are "No Excuses, No Explanations, Just Great Kids with High Expectations!" As a "Quality School", we challenge our students to rise above easy excuses and instead, choose solutions that will enable them to achieve the success we all know they are capable of achieving. We expect them to expect themselves to work toward goals that are above and beyond what they thought they could accomplish and to work toward their best quality results in all that they do. At Hartford Middle School, our students learn to expect their best not only with academics, but also with behavior and their interactions with each other as they learn to become responsible citizens of a community. We practice and value integrity, character and leadership.

We surround our students with a staff of very caring and supportive people, whose number one priority is to make sure each student knows he / she has a positive relationship with someone in our school. We expect students to be in school everyday, on time and ready to learn and grow. We are continually working on new, innovative and engaging lessons, but still believe in the timeless methods that require students to be responsible for their learning.

Hartford Middle School offers many opportunities for students to complete work that is given in the classroom, including an "Extended Opportunity" every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday until 3:45 PM. This opportunity includes certified staff and high-achieving High School students who come over to help with tutoring or studying for quizzes or tests.

Hartford Middle School strives to be the "place to be". If you have any questions or would like to volunteer some time in our school or just come and visit, please contact us. We would be glad to have you stop by.

From the desk of  Principal Messenger:
"A major part of our ongoing improvement process is seeking tangible feedback. Please take a moment to complete the online Middle School Parent Survey. Your comments are a valuable tool that we use in our future planning. Thanks for taking the time and for your input to help us improve your Hartford Middle School ."

Anti-Bullying Presentation

The Middle School was recently visited by “Mr. Jim” Merrills, who combines magic with his message of “respect for yourself and others”, to help students treat each other well every day.

Danielle Romzek, the 7th grade Math and Science teacher, recently launched “Miss Romzek’s Class” Facebook page for students and parents alike, especially handy when they are at home and unable to understand some aspect of the current homework assignment.

This social media extension of the classroom will give timely homework reminders and in addition provide various links to enrich student understanding of math & science concepts.
